CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION SOON FOR CLERK-CARRIER MANAGUA, NicaraRun, Maroh 5 President Madriz aunounced today that he would resign from tho pres idency if tho United States refused to recognize tho existing Nicnrngusin government after the comnlete res toration of poaco. Madris announced that the revo lution baa been quelled and that the remnants of the provisional army are in flight, closely pursued by General Vasquer. Madrix declared that his only am bition was to serve Nicaragua and that if his proeauco prevented Amer ican recognition he would retire. It is believed here that the Washington authorities will compel Madriz to retire. An examination for clerk and ear lier win be held at the jxstoffico m this city on March 15. Age limits, 18 to 45 years, on tho date of the examination. Married women will sot be admitted to the examination, but nre eligible for appointment on ly as' clerk. Applicants mnst be physically sound, and malo appli cants must be not less than 5 feet 4 inches in height without boots or shoes, and weigh not less thnn 225 pounds without overcoat or hat.
