lution baa been quelled and that the
remnants of the provisional army
are in flight, closely pursued by
General Vasquer.
Madrix declared that his only am
bition was to serve Nicaragua and
that if his proeauco prevented Amer
ican recognition he would retire. It
is believed here that the Washington
authorities will compel Madriz to retire.
An examination for clerk and ear
