Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Phone recycle project to assist victims of domestic violence M orrow C o u n ty Victim Assistance Director Deona Siex and M orrow County District Attorney Justin Nelson have accu mulated a total o f 55 cel lular phones to be donated towards the Domestic Vio lence Shelters Emergency fund. The proceeds will go to the Hermiston/Pendleton Domestic V iolence Emer gency fund. S h e lte r A llian ce is an organization that re cycles cellular phones in 50 states and Canada. The cell phones will be recycled in an environmentally respon sible, zero landfill manner. The Shelter Alliance pays up to $30 per phone, and the donation can benefit domestic violence shelters in your area. Gary Blicken- staff o f Areata found the scrip in a second hand store in Eureka, CA, and bought it for two dollars. Later he called the Heppner Gazette- T im es and ask ed if we would like the scrip. Blick- enstaff was good enough to mail the scrip, which is about the size o f a dollar bill, to the Gazette along with the following note: “I am very happy this m ade its way back hqme after almost 40 years.
