Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, February 27. 2008 - THREE Estes named Volunteer Coordinator of the Year Cyde Estes, Volun teer Coordinator for Pioneer M em orial H ospice, was recently recognized by the Oregon Hospice Association as Volunteer Coordinator o f the Year. Cyde has served as the Volunteer Coordinator for Pioneer Memorial Hos pice since August o f 2003. P io n eer M em orial H o s pice provides palliative care for term inally ill patients th ro u g h o u t M orrow and Gilliam counties, mostly in their places o f residence, and has more than 30 trained volunteers throughout the two counties. T h is p re s tig io u s award was first presented in January 2004 and has become a tradition Oregon's hospice providers’ look for ward to every year. The Oregon Hospice Association is a statewide, not-for-profit public benefit m em bership organization whose goal is to make sure that all Oregonians can have excellent care as they or their loved ones approach Drake, Gunderson plan July wedding the end o f life. In 2007,62 hospices provided a full array o f sup portive, palliative health care services for terminally- ill O regonians and their families throughout the state o f O regon. In 2007, all Oregonians had access to hospice in their communi ties and access to comfort care. DA’s Report M o rro w C o u n ty District Attorney Elizabeth Ballard has released the fol lowing report: -Marvin A. Pourier, 43, was convicted of posses sion o f a methamphetamine, a class C felony and was sentenced to 90 sanction units with 30 jail units, 18 months supervised proba tion, six months d riv e r’s license suspension, 80 hours o f community service, other numerous conditions, and pay $ 1,788 in fines, fees and assessments. -J o h n R ic h a rd Ledoux, 54, was convicted o f theft in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor and was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 180 days suspend ed, 18 months bench proba tion, fcompJete 25 hours of corhmürtïtÿ 'service, other numerous conditions, and pay $988 in fines, fees and assessments. Pinochle players invited to Green field Grange Derek Gunderson and Amy Drake Greenfield Grange hosts a Pinochle game ev ery Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The group enjoys a luncheon together as well as eight games o f pinochle. The crops class was responsible for creating a les son plan related to agriculture that included a “teacher' outline, handouts, worksheet and an activity. “ It was fun to get to do. I didn’t know I would like teaching so much,” said high school junior J.J. Dixson.
