Missing lone child found deceased On March 2 at ap proximately 2 p.m. the Mor row County Sheriff's Office received a report that Noah Burke, a four year old au tistic boy, was missing from 72604 Highway 71 in lone. This residence is located 10 miles south o f Interstate 84 on State Highway 74. The m other stated that Noah had been outside playing in the yard and that she had seen him three min utes before she had noticed he was gone. A ground search was initiated supported by a private aircraft. At 5:47 p.m. a cow boy boot that was confirmed as belonging to the victim was located next to Willow Creek. The search concen trated on the banks o f the creek for five m iles u p stream and two miles down stream . The creek banks were searched a number of times in both directions. Later in the evening the search efforts were aug m ented by two N ational Guard helicopters out o f Portland. The search con tinued until around 1 a.m. on M onday. The search resumed at first light. At the peak, there were betw een 80 and 100 persons involved in the search. At 9:35 a.m . on Tuesday. March 3, one o f the National Guard helicopters observ ed a blue object in the water 2.5 miles downstream from the residence. Ground units arrived and assisted the helicopter crewman in retriev ing the body of Noah Burke. A fund has been set up for the Kenneth Burke family at the Bank o f East ern Oregon in memory of N oah. D onations can be made at any BEO branch. Ballots can be dropped off at the fol lowing locations: New Boardman City Hall, 200 City Center Circle; Irrigon Annex, 205 NE 3ri1 Street; Bank o f Eastern Oregon, 280 West Main Street in lone; Morrow County Road Office, 365 West Highway 74 in Lexington; and the Morrow County Courthouse, 100 S. Court Street in Heppner. On election day, drop boxes at these locations will be open until 8 p.m. Ballots dropped off at the Post Office must be dropped off before 5 p.m. Postmarks do not count.
