Irrigon ambulance crew delivers baby To the Editor: Thursday, March 10, was like most any day in Irrigon People had gone to their respective jobs and w ere ab o u t th e ir daily business At 10:40 a m., the Irrig o n am bulance was called o u t to a p riv ate residence, “woman in labor.” At 10:47 a m., they arrived on the scene fully expecting to have the birth process co m p le te and th e ir responsibility would be to check mom and babe, assure all was well and transport to G ood Shepherd T his, however, was not the case The baby’s head had entered the world but her shoulders were less than cooperative With amazing effort on the part o f the mom and the ambulance crew the baby was eventually born All w ere not yet out o f the w oods. T h ere w ere no spontaneous respirations and the baby’s color was bad The ambulance crew worked diligently as a team and after several very tension filled m om ents, re sp ira tio n com m enced and that beautiful lusty cry was heard The Irrig o n am bulance crew , Sandra Dooney, paramedic; Wayne Huwe, Virgil Hausiner and Tom R o b erts did an o u tsta n d in g jo b . T hey worked together as a team and assu red a p o sitiv e outcome to what could have been a very sad and unfortunate result. W ord has been receiv ed th at fo rm er Heppner resident, Andrzej Doboszynski, 53, o f Everett, WA, died March 8, 2005. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m ., Saturday, March 19 at the Solie Funeral Home Chapel, 3301 Colby Avenue, Everett, WA, with a reception to follow in the Fireside Room D o b o szy n sk i was born June 9, 1951, in Kielce, Poland, the son of Adam and Jozefa D oboszynski. He lived in the Heppner area in th e early 1980s b efo re moving to Everett where h e ’s lived for the past 18 years Doboszynski married Barbara Szymanska in Kielce, Poland in 1974 In Poland, he w orked as an auto mechanics teacher and su p erv iso r. He was a member o f the Solidarity Movement in Poland in the early 1980s and the Polish C ath o lic C hurch (S ain t Margaret) in Seattle. While in Heppner he worked as a janitor at the grade school and in Everett was a drafting engineer for 15 years. The D oboszynski family, Andrzej, his wife, Barbara, and children, Inga, then 9 and Woxjiech (Mark), then 5, came to Heppner th ro u g h the L utheran Church Refugee program Doboszynski and his family learned English while here in Heppner with the help o f Pendleton residents, also Polish immigrants, John and Phyllis Urych, who helped interpret for the Heppner sponsors. Doboszynski loved going hunting, fishing, the o u td o o rs and trav elin g th ro u g h o u t E urope. He enjoyed gardening, walking his dog, spending time at M ukilteo Beach and just being with his family who love him very much. Survivors include his wife, B arbara; daughter, Carolyn, age 18; son, Mark, age 26; daughter, Inga, age 30; granddaughter, Brianna B en n ett, age 12; th ree brothers, Janusz, Marek and Michal; and sister, Barbara Felipe De Jesus Estrada F elipe De Jesu s Estrada, 88, o f Irrigon, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at G ood Shepherd M edical Center in Hermiston. A p riv a te fam ily service will be held with private burial at the Nyssa cemetery. E strad a was born Feb 4, 1917, at La Barca, Jalisco, Mexico, to Luis and Petra Anas Estrada He was raised and lived in Mexico where he m arried M aria de la luz Nunez on April 16, 1938 They moved to the United S tates in the mid 1950s working in agriculture, to seek a better future for their children They settled at Nyssa in 1960 and Estrada w orked in farm ing until 1994, when he retired His wife o f 58 years, Maria de la Luz Estrada, died in 1996. He moved to Irrigon in 1997. H ansen w as already lodged at Umatilla County Jail. -MCSO received a report from Pendleton PD that John Looney, 23, was arrested on a H eppner Justice Court warrant for Failure to Pay Fine/DUII x2.
