J o h n so n -D e G ra ff was born June 17, 1917, at H eppner, to Felix and Maude Johnson o f the 101 Ranch near Long Creek She was raised on the cattle ranch on the Middle Fork o f the John Day River near Long C reek. A fter graduating from high school at Walla Walla, she moved to Portland w ith her sister, Addie, to attend business school. While in Portland, she met and later married Ernest P “Bud” DeGraff They lived at Los Angeles, St. Louis, MO, Minneapolis, MN and San Rafael, finally retiring at O akm ont, CA near Santa Rosa. E ach year at vacation time they brought their family to the 101 Ranch on the Middle Fork o f the John Day River. The couple loved to play golf and travel in their retirement Several years after Mr DeGraff’s death in 1982, she met and later married, Arthur Woy. Survivors include her sons and their wives, Ernie and Judy DeGraff of Fortuna, CA, Bob and Diana DeGraff o f Kentfield, CA, Warren and Edie DeGraff o f L ark sp u r, CA; by her d a u g h ters and th eir husbands, Donna and Bill Murray o f Fresno, CA and Carol and Mike Terry o f N ovato, CA; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother, Allen Johnson o f Long Creek, sister, A ddie B enson o f P ortland, many cousins, nieces and nephews. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Ann Abbott of Irrigon; sons, Jody Gene Abbott and Charlie Lewis Abbott; daughters, Christina Ann A bbott and Shanna C leone A bbott, brothers, Jam es Lloyd A bbott, Lawrence Abbott and Cecil A b b o tt; sisters, D oris Barton, Agnes H epw orth and M argaret Barnes, 11 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two brothers and by his grandson, Justin Burns Mortuary o f Hermiston is in charge o f arrangements Samual H. “Sam” Edwards Samual H “ Sam ” Edwards, 58, o f Boardman, died Friday, Feb 25, 2005, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston A memorial service was held at Burns Mortuary in Hermiston Burial with military honors followed at the Hermiston Cemetery. Edwards was born Oct 23, 1946, at Salem to Joel Raymond and Ethel W alter Edwards. He was raised and attended schools at Walla Walla. He joined the Marine Corps, serving seven years as an Egress and Ejection systems specialist during the Vietnam War, then joined the Navy where he spent two years in the same capacity until his honorable discharge. He earned a double bachelor o f arts degree in Law E n fo rcem en t and Criminal Justice from the University o f Texas. On Nov. 5, 1966 he married Carole A. Mace at Walla Walla. He worked as a law e n fo rcem en t o ffice r in H arlin g en , TX, before returning to W alla Walla w here he w orked at the p en iten tiary . He later worked as a police officer at West Richland, WA before going to work for Boeing He served w ith B oeing Security before retiring in 2004. E d w ard s w as an independent business owner a ffiliate d w ith L egacy Business Group, LLC. He enjoyed a u to m o b ile m echanics, motorcycles, spending time w ith his ch ild ren and grandchildren and loved helping others. He was a member of the Baha’i Faith. Survivors include his wife, Carole Mace-Edwards o f Boardman; daughters, Jeanne R enee Shea o f R ichland and Lea Kelly N u n am ak er and her husband, Jon, o f Boardman; b ro th ers, Joel Raym ond Edwards II o f Boardman, Jim Edwards, Jerry Edwards and Mike Edwards, all o f V ancouver, WA; sister, Jackie Payne o f Hermiston; five grandchildren, Joshuah, Jared, Logan, Michael and Seth; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
