D arlene Lovgren, H eppner. recently celebrated 20 years of xer vice with First Interstate Bank She began her career at the John Day Branch of First Interstate in I9M a. ,i bookkeeper In lf7 2 she transferred to the Pendleton Branch and worked in several areas of the hank fhen in 1977 she was married to Stacy laivgrcn o f Heppner and transferred to the Heppner branch on the new accounts desk She is cur rently the branch secretary in Heppner Darlene is a valuable employee at the bank with her expertise in every banking area Gray appointed to Special Courts Advisory Committee Chief Justice Edwin J Peterson recently appointed Justice of the Peace Charlotte Gray to the Special Courts Advisory Committee, effec tive July I The term of the appoint rnent is three years She attended her first meeting in Salem on July 8 This committee is to be a liason between Supreme Courts and Spec ial Courts which inc lude Municipal and Justice Courts. Umatilla; Ryan the courts understand the problems encountered at the lower courts level The committee consists of two Municipal judges, iwo Justice of the Peace, one member of a city gover ning body and one member of a county governing body. The committee meets about twice a year, more often if necessary Tourism committee met at Cutsforth park A Tourism Committee meeting was held July 6 at the Cutsforth Park The placemats are now available for distribution throughout the county Dorothy Krebs reported that no action has been taken concerning the Boardman rest area kiosk Claudia Hughes reported that the 1989 Governor's Tourism Con ference will he held March 12 14 in Pendleton She said that as a com mittee, they might consider putting up a display booth at the conference This would be portable to be used elsewhere Fred l.undin noted that he was considering a portable display for the extension office and would consider loaning it out for county promotional purposes The committee elected not to sup port a county visitors survey Charlene Papmcau hosted a lour at Cutsforth park and viewed some potential hiking trails in the area The next meeting will be held August 3 at the Boardman Manna at noon This is a brown bag lunch meeting followed by a tour of the Marina and Boardman rest area kiosk. July 4th tennis cham ps listed The winners in the Fourth of July tennis tournament held in lone on Ju ly 2-4 were Men’s Singles, Gene Hclikcr of San Diego, formerly of Heppner, Women’s Singles. Angie Rudisill. lone and Doubles winners were Dick Snider and Jodi Vcnneri The trophies for the tournament were donated hy Wheatland In surance. Morrow County Grain Growers Fertiliser Department and lone Hardware Clint Krebs was the chairman of this event and a good time was had by all who participated Adelman, South Morrow County. Ben Cook, alternate, Boardman, Steve Hoffman,South Morrow County; Jeff Tarter. Umatilla Mike Perkins Boadman; Scott Coe. South Mor row County; and Mike Lambert, manager. Irrigon. The Allstars beat the Pendleton Americans 18-2.
