' V“ ' 4*.»»* 4 £ • ’ * S - • l V . ; a Correction Mike Mahoney is going to Pueblo, Colo this week for a try at the National High School rodeo finals He is competing in calf roping The Oregon State High School Rodeo F inals that were held in Red mond July 17-19 allowed Mike Mahoney ot Heppner to qualify for two events at the National High School Rodeo Finals to he held July 23-31 in Pueblo. Colorado Mike qualified in calf roping and steer wrestling He won the Reserve All Around title by winning a buckle for first place in calf roping and first place in steer wrestling He came home with a saddle for his all around honors Forty kids from Oregon qualified for Nationals, among them t>ave Clark of Long Creek and Joe Cuehlo of Kimberly, both competed for Morrow County Twelve hundred kids will compete at the national finals rodeo, representing thirty three states and two Canadian provinces. Special entertainment at City Park "M usic on Mainstrcet ', being presented by tlie Morrow County Museum will be held at the City Park. Sunday, July 24. The festivities will feature the Madrigal Blue Folk Quartet from Pendleton. The City of Heppner is serving free hotdogs to ttie kids, and parents are encouraged to bnng a picnic and share in the fun The music begins at 5:45 p m and a special guest appearance will be made by the very talented comic lip sync group, Otis Day and the Knights They will be performing for your entertainment This rock group is known throughout the nor thwest for their performances, "W e (the museum) hope to have many more cultural activities scheduled for the rest of the sum m er." says Judge Louis Carlson "Hopefully we can schedule at least one per month, maybe more " Remember, Sunday.
