Supermarket shop pers throughout Oregon will find valuable new information posted to assist them in their purchases on most food and grocery commodities. The shift from voluntary unit pricing to mandatory labeling went into effect as of March 1. The unit pricing is required in stores grossing $1.5 million or more a year. We encourage consumers to take advantage of the information, which requires that most packaged food and grocery products be priced in two ways... with the conventional total package price, and a unit price showing what the item costs according to a specified unit of measure ment (per pound, ounce, pints,' feet, etc.). If you consult the informa tion posted near or below items for sale, you won't need your calculator to decide if the big package or the small one is the best buy.. .you can tell at a glance how much you are paying and compare. You'll see some items which are not required to be labeled in this manner. The consumer will , still need to make their own judgement of the quality requirements and other fac tors to determine the package that best meets their own needs, but the cost per unit is there for you to consider. By Rttcin Rletmcnn Comm., Dorothy Krebs, lont, Treasurer (SVS) mm ii -If- aiiru (SS) that some individuals have chosen to break into our 4-H Camp Building at Cutsforth Park. It seems strange to us that anyone would feel a desire to break the locks, open the lockers and containers where our camp utensils are stored, and leave the door open. And it seems even stranger that they left their picnic supplies behind, for they certainly can be used as evidence. 4-H has extended the cour tesy of use of their tables in the dining hall, and the warmth of the fireplace for all to use. On inspection of the camp, we find the tables upturned and scattered, ben ches piled and upset, and other evidence of mis-use. The County maintains the Park for the enjoyment of all. ..the kitchen and storage room belong to 4-H, and is used for our camp program, which is a highlight event of the year for members.
