Mrs- Van Arsdale was taken to Arlington last Wednesday evening by O. L. Adams where she met Mr. and Mrs. Garrett Van Arsdale of Elgin and went on to Port land. High was won by Ruth Jordan, low by Cindl Weaser. and pi nochles by Sharon Smiley and Roberta Conlec. Others playintf were Kosie Graham, Carol Nor ris, Rose Merry Nelson. Becky Wright, Deena Reid, Sue Mai tlson, and Doris Stubblefield. Ruth Jordan and Rose Hard wick were hostesses Friday af ternoon to a coffee hour honor ing Mrs. Sue Tipton and new daughter, Tamara Lynn, at the Jordan home. Those attending were Terry Todd, Carol Norrts. Betty O'Neall, May James, Bet ty Murdock. and Carol Thomas. Sending gifts but not Mel.0 attend were Frances White, Del oris Wlmer, Pat Sharp, Barbara Mortlmore, and Eva DeMerltt. Mrs. Red Hulett went to Hepp ner Friday to bring home Mr. Hulett who was released from Pioneer Memorial hospital fol lowing surgery earlier in the week. Mr. and Mrs. Don Hardwick and sons and George Saddler went to John Day Friday where the Hardwlcks visited with Mr. and Mrs. John Hardwick and Mr. or,, I Mk Forrest Overton and with their daughter, Genine Hardwick. Mr. and Mrs. Frank DeMer- itt were in Heppner Saturday on business. Due to conflicting dates, the Community card party planned for Camp 5 on February 22, has been postponed to a more favor able date in March. Spending Sunday at Hood Riv er were Mr. and Mrs. Ron Ever sole and family and Mr. and Mrs. Larry O'Neall. Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Flack were business visitors to The Dalles Tuesday. Travel to Lectures The Rev. Melvin Dixon, pas tor of the Heppner United Meth odist church, attended a series of Earl Foundation Lectures in Berkeley, Calif., Tuesday through Friday of last week. The lectures are sponsored once each year by the Pacific Schoul of Religion and feature several noted speakers. Accompanying Rev. Dixon on his trip south was the Rev. Ev erett Gardner of Milton-Freewa-ter. Mr. Harmon Winter traveled to Portland last Thursday where she attended the Multnomah county Lincoln Day dinner, held that night at the Sheraton ho tel, with Governor Tom McCall as the featured main speaker. On Friday. Mrs. Winter travel ed to Salem, where she attend ed the day's session of the state legislature and a commli'v meeting of the house election and reapportionment commit tee. Following a brief visit with her parents In Salem, she re turned to Portland to attend meetings of the Republican State Central Committee, held at the Sheraton hotel on Saturday Specials, By George!
