There was no old business. We dis cussed what to do lor a com munity project for new business. The meeting was adjourned at 4:20 p.m. Refreshments were served by Kathy Burcham. Daggett is scneauiea to unaergo navy flight training, starting at Pensacola, Fla., in July. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Schipps and son of Pasco, Wash., enjoy ed a visit in Lexington last week-end with his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Rigby, and with other rel atives in Heppner, Including his grandmother, Mrs. Grace Busch ke. Blaine Chapel of lone entered Good Shepherd hospital in Her miston last Thursday, where he was taken by ambulance for treatment. Daggett, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. (Jerry) Dag gett of Heppner, received the oath of enlistment recently fol lowing his acceptance as an aviation officer candidate at the Sand Point Naval Air Station, Seattle. The oath was administered during ceremonies conducted by Ensign Ronald Cummins of the Sand Point recruiting depart ment. A 19G5 graduate of Heppner High school, he is currently a senior at Oregon State Univer sity at Corvallis where he is working toward a bachelor ot science degree in Business Ad ministration. Daggett's first duty assign ment will be to the Naval Air Station. Pensacola, Fla., where he will undergo two years ot flight training. Upon completion of this phase he will be com missioned an ensign and award ed the coveted "Wings of Gold" of the Naval aviator. He expects to start training in July after graduating at OSU in June. Daggett plans to be home this weekend for a visit. Refresher Course For Nurses Slated The Oregon League for Nurs ing has announced a refresher course for registered nurses scheduled to start March 24 in Pendleton. Participating hospi tals in the eight-week refresh er course are St. Anthony and Pendleton Community hospitals in Pendleton: St. Joseph and Grande Ronde hospitals in La- Grande; Good Shepherd hospi tal, Hermiston and Pioneer Memorial hospital, Heppner. Completion of the course ful fils the Oregon State Board of Nursing requirements for reli censure of former licensed reg istered nurses. Funding of the course is through the Manpower Develop ment and Training Act (MDTA), an on-the-job training project under the administration of tho Oregon Association of Hospitals. There is no charge for the course. Nurses wishing to take the refresher course are urged to contact the Director of Nursing in any one of the participating hospitals. Gets Salesman Honor Vesta Kilkenny, local agent for OPS Farm Bureau Insurance, attended an agents' quarterly meeting at the Park Haviland Hotel in Portland last Thursday and Friday, where she had the honor of being the top OPS salesman for the entire state for the quarter.
