Travel to Lectures
The Rev. Melvin Dixon, pas
tor of the Heppner United Meth
odist church, attended a series
of Earl Foundation Lectures
in Berkeley, Calif., Tuesday
through Friday of last week.
The lectures are sponsored once
each year by the Pacific Schoul
of Religion and feature several
noted speakers.
Accompanying Rev. Dixon on
his trip south was the Rev. Ev
erett Gardner of Milton-Freewa-ter.
Mr. Harmon Winter traveled
to Portland last Thursday where
she attended the Multnomah
county Lincoln Day dinner, held
that night at the Sheraton ho
tel, with Governor Tom McCall
as the featured main speaker.
On Friday. Mrs. Winter travel
ed to Salem, where she attend
ed the day's session of the state
legislature and a commli'v
meeting of the house election
and reapportionment commit
tee. Following a brief visit with
her parents In Salem, she re
turned to Portland to attend
meetings of the Republican
State Central Committee, held at
the Sheraton hotel on Saturday
