This un derstanding makes for greater tolerance and understandlnji of other nation's problems and manner of living. Thomson Home Scene Of Holiday Reunion Thanksgiving week was an oc casion for a family reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Thomson. Coming from their home at Thousand Oaks, Calif., for the week were their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Tom (Meiedlthl Walters, and sons, Russell, age 5, and Duane, Hge 2'j. Another daughter, Ber-nu-e. employed In Portland, and their son. Bruce, student at EOC Ui Grande, joined them for the Thanksgiving week end. On Friday afternoon, Mrs. Thomson entertained at an at home" social gathering, friends and former classmates of the two daughters called to renew acnuaintances and reminisce ot their forniei school days. r EVA HAMLETT Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Cribble returned Irom Salem last Fri riav. where they spent a few days visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Mills. On the week-end the couple were hosts for a family dinner at their home. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Cribble and son. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Cribble and Jeffrey from La Grande and Mrs. Sybil Wei s. Visiting the Pat Wonsers for four days over the Thanksgiving holidav were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rav Cooley from Bend. Rachel Harnett traveled to Portland to enj y the recent hol iday with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Harnett, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Renne Harris and two children from Portland arrived to spend Thanksgiving holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Saling and fam ily. Harris is production mana ger for Chipman Chemical Co. The Salings son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Don Hev- ener and son Brian irom Mc Minnville also spent the holi day visiting relatives in Hepp ner. On Thanksgiving day they oined other family members at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cres- ton Robinson for dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Meyers and family drove to Yakima, Wn last Wednesday evening to spend Thanksgiving with his brother. James Mevers. and i family. On Saturday evening,! Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mevers (Gor don's father) of Imnaha, arriv ed and spent the night, return ing home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Matthews i had as guests for Thanksgiving. besides their daughters. Ber- niece and Deniece, Mr. and Mrs. Berl Akers. Mr. and Mrs. Elmo McMillan of Salem are visiting at the Adon Hamlett home. Mr. McMil lan returned home on Sundav and will return here later in the week. Robert Drake drove to Port land last Tuesday, taking El don Tucker there to enter the Veteran's Hospital. Mrs. Hershal Townsend and daughter Sue, were recent vis itors from Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Townsend are working at the Cabana Motel on 82nd street, near the freeway. Sue Townsend underwent surgery on November 24, and is recuperat ing at the home of her parents. Ron Crabtree of Seattle, Wash., spent last Monday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Crabtree. His daughter. Sally, of Lexington, also spent the day with her father and grandparents. Mrs. Adon Hamlett entertain ed with a coffee hour at her home last Tuesday. Guests in cluded her sister,, Mrs. Elmo Mc Millan of Salem, Mrs. Cleo Drake, Mrs. Mary Lundell, Mrs. Paul Pettyjohn, Sr., Mrs. Lloyd Morgan, and Mrs. Garland Swanson. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Kessler and family spent Thanksgiving vacation at the home of Mrs. Kesslcr's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stewart, at Walla Walla. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin McCabe and family spent Thanksgiving at the homo of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Crabtree. Mr. and Mrs. Mc Cabe returned home Friday, but the three bovs remained until Sunday. The grandparents took them to walla Walla where they were met by their parents and returned home. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Ball and family, Mr. and Mrs. Don Ball and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Loy and family, of Bea verton, spent Thanksgiving at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Ball, on their Rhea Creek ranch. Gus Jensen was in Portland over the week-end visiting his son and daughter-in-law, Mr and Mrs. Martin Jensen and family. Mr. and Mrs. Elby Akers, and son, Danny, traveled to the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Co fenas in Portland for Thanks giving. Mrs. Ida Coleman and D-Ann Barnett rode to Portland with them. D-Ann stayed wth Mr. and Mrs. Paul Barnett and family in Gresham. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Meyers of Fortland spent Friday and Sat urday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Crabtree. Miss Casslc Chapel received word of the death of her grand mother. Mrs. Pence Brisbois, of Spray. She passed away Friday morning and arrangements were pending due to arrival of other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Fetsch and family spent Thanksgiving aav at the home of his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Al Fetsch near Pendleton. Friday evening they attended the wedding In Pendleton of Larry's cousin, Phyllis Thornburg. Mrs. Ida Coleman spent Thanksgiving In Portland with Mr. and Mrs. Pete Crawford and family. She returned on Satur day with Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Crawford, Pete Crawford and his son, Tim, who came up for the Crawford's 60th anniversary.
