Officiating at the double ring ceremony was the Kev. Ger ald Emerson of Mt. Vernon. Parent of the couole are Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dahill and Mrs. Edna Moore, all of Monument. The bride, given In marriage by her parents, was attired in a pink luxury natin street-length dress, with bodice and cuffs of the sleeves trimmed with pink lace. Her veil was held by headpiece of petals of pink pearls and lace. She carried pink and white carnations on a white Bible. Maid of honor was Miss Jackie Moore of Monument, sis ter of the groom. She won an aqua saMr street-length dress, with matching carnation cor sage. Dresses of both bride and maid of honor were made by the bride's mother, Mrs. Henry Dahill. Garv Norden of Mt, Vernon at tended as best man, and ushers were Jim Boyer of Monument and Robert Holmes of Pendle ton. Mrs. Merlin Jones of Monu ment was organist and accom panied Miss I'epgy Plank of Fossil whs sang "The Sweetheart Tree" and 'The Lord's Prayer." A reception followed ln the church parlors, with Mrs. Steve Holmes and Mrs. David Dahill serving punch and coffee. Mrs. Stanley Boyer cut and served the cake. Miss Niki Miller was ln charge of gifts and Mrs. Gary Norden registered guests. Pic tures were taken by Miss Jean Hill. The newlyweds will reside in Monument after the honeymoon. Mrs. Erwin Reviews Novel by Frenchman Mrs Ilnmld Erwin Dresented book review on the novel, "The Horsemen," at the last November meeting of the Heppner Book worms club, held at the home of Mrs. Cornett Green. The book was written by a noted French author, Joseph Kessel, who wrote about horse manship competition in the country of Afghanistan. Club mrmbers drew names for a gift exchange, which will be held December 10 at the home of Mrs. J. O. Turner. December 1. The tea table was covered with a laige white linen cloth, decorated with silver garlands and white paper bells. The wall behind the tea table was attrac tively dectrated in the same mo tif. A large decorated sheet cake centered the table. Mrs. Vern Crawford, Mrs. Har lan Crawford, Mrs. Arthur Craw ford, and Mrs. Tad Miller serv ed the cake at Intervals during the afternoon. Coffee was served by Mrs. Hervel Pettyjohn. Mrs. John Voorhees, Mrs. Milton Mor gan, and Mrs. Del nut r Crawford. Serving at the punch bowl were Mrs. Bill Nelson. Mrs. Keith Peck, Miss Suzanne Voorhees, and Miss Michelle Miller. Miss Peggy Voorhees, Mrs. Marlene Bush and Miss Anita Crawford were in charge of the guest book. Assisting around the room were Tara and Cyndee Crawford. A money tree was presented to Mr. and Mrs. Crawford by Rev. Mike Luedde. All of the Crawford's eight children attended, and 13 of the IS grandchilren were present. The group included Mr. and Mrs. Milton Morgan, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Crawford, Rolla Crawford, Mr. and Mrs. Tad Miller, Mich elle and Nancy of Heppner, Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Crawford, An ita, Cyndee and Mrs. Marlene Bush of Hermiston, Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Crawford, Tara, Tammie and Craig, of La Grande, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Crawford and Janice of Helix, Mr. and Mrs. John Voorhees, Suzzane, and Peggy, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Peck and Natalie, of Portland, Mrs. Herval Pettyjohn and three children of Yakima, Wash., and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Nelson of Pay ette, Idaho. Other relatives attending were Mr. Waite Crawford's brother, Rodney, and his son, Pete, of Portland. Coming from a dis tance to express their best wishes were Mrs. Mattie Ray, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brashears of Lyle, Wash., and Mr. and Mrs. Erling Thompson, of McMinn ville. HEPPNEH New Bride Showered With Wedding Gifts Mrs. Rick Johnston, recent bride, was honor guest at a miscellaneous bridal shower, held on Friday evening, Novem ber 29, at the home of Mrs. J. D. Hudson. The honoree opened many gitts at a lovely gitt table dec orated with white net over a pink cloth, with small decora tive white net bows attached. Other decorations included a large white wedding bell with contrasting pink trim which was hung directly over the gift table. Assisting with the gift opening were Misses Kathy Matthews, Mrs. Hudson and Pam Johnston. Hostesses for the shower party were Mrs. Leon Ball, Mrs. Leon Magill and Miss Matthews, who served fresh apple cake dessert, punch and coffee to guests. The newlyweds were united in marriage in Portland last Wednesday in the presence of family members. The bride is the former Susan Starks, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Starks, and parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Sam Johnston, all of Heppner. Mr. and Mrs. Terry Thompson and three children enjoyed Thanksgiving day dinner and a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Schoen, at their home in North Bonneville, Wn. Mr. and Mrs. John Venard traveled to Madras Thursday to enjoy Thanksgiving day with family friends, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schoen. Dr. and Mrs. L. D. Tibbies en joyed a recent week-end visit in Portland at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Tibbies. Also visiting the Tibbies family was Mrs. Lance Tibbies and son, Thad, from Buffalo, N. Y., who had teen visiting at her par ents home in Salem for two weeks. Those initiated were Lounnne Kelly, Dianne Wright and Sally Winters. Presiding over the init iation were Teresa Harsh man, worthy advisor, and her staff of officers. During the business meeting, discussion was held on the an nual Christmas Rainbow dance, scheduled for Monday evening, December 23, In Willows IOOK hall. Sue Mel by, associate worthy advisor, will serve as chairman. Reports were also heard on the success of the breakfast served Sunday mi.rning, November 17, for out of town guests who at tended the grand reception for Mrs. Dick Wilkinson on Satur day evening. Birthday Observance Honors Mrs. Hager Mrs. Emma Hager was special guest on Thanksgiving day for dinner and a birthday celebrat ion honoring her on her 80th birthday. All of her children and their families were able to be present for the 8eclal event, hclJ at the James Hager home. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hager and daughter. Cherry, Mr. and Mrs. Ken L'vans, Pendleton, Mr. and Mrs. Vern K'vans and daughter, Chris, of Heppner, Mr. and Mrs, Homer Hager of Hermiston, and Col. and Mrs. Clayton t Harriet) Shaw and two sons, Robert and Steve, of Corvallis. The large fireplace in the Ha ger home was decorated to re semble a large birthday card. The honoree received many gifts and congratulatory cards and letters from friends and rel atives and enjoyed the day vis iting with friends and family members.
