Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ball, and Mrs. Ball's sister-in-law, Mrs. Crystal Barlow. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Peck are the parents of a 7 lb., 9Vi oz. son bom May 13. at the Pen dleton Community hospital. He has been named Michael Willi am. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Peck of Boardman, and Col. and Mrs. Robert Heald ol Presidio, Calif. Great-grandparent Is Thomas Heald of Jamestown, N. Y. The Boardman Garden Club met Monday night of last week at the home of Mrs. Frank Mar low. Roll call was answered by answering the Question, "Shall we have a flower show?" The club voted to buy anoth er shrub and a tree for the grounds at the Boardman Com munity Church when they are needed. Mrs. Arthur Allen reported on the progress of the city park. In a game played prizes were won by Mrs. Rollin Bishop and Mrs. Glen Carpenter. Mrs. Ralph Earwood won the door prize. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Allen, June 19 at which time new officers will be installed, and the annual Sandflower Sister party will be neid, with names oeing revealea with exchange of gifts. Week-end visitors at the home of Rev. and Mrs. George Neeley were Neeley's mother, Mrs. Er- ma Neeley of Capitola, Calif., and his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Nelson of San Jose, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ball, Sr., at tended the funeral of Elmer Pe tersen in lone Saturday and then went to Heppner to visit Mrs. Ball's brother-in-law, Jess Coats. Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Donovan were Mr. and Mrs. Dewey West, Sr, of Woodburn, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wetherell and son Lec of Richland, Wash., 2nd Lt. Sunday visitors included Mr. and Mrs. Truman Messen ger of The Dalles, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Messenger and children Kathy, Geraldine and Gerald, and Mrs. Marie Cogill of Port land; Carroll Messenger of Kmgsley Field, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Willett and children De- nice, Ronald and Deloyce of Cor vallis, Mr and Mrs. Carl Mar quardt and seven children, and Mr, and Mrs. BUI Marquardt and seven children of Lexington. 2nd Lt Larry West is spend ing two weeks leave at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey West, Jr., from Fort Bennine. Ga. He received his commission May 15. After his leave he will return to Fort Ben ning where he will be an in structor. Greenfield Grange met Satur day night at the hall with Mr. and Mrs Donall Baker as hosts. Mrs. Chub Warren assisted. The meeting started with potluck supper at 6:30. Mr. and Mrs Nathan Thorpe were elected alternate delegates to the state grange session at North Bend in June. Mrs. John Phillips presented the grange an award for par ticipating in the Heart Fund drive. It was a certificate of appreciation of distinguished service and leadership in the fight against the heart diseases. It was voted that the Home Economics Club be allowed to buy a curtain rod for the stage. Arthur Allen made an extens ive report on the progress of the Boardman Park District He al so reported that he will no long er be insurance agent for the grange, and that in the future Charles Jones of Lexington will handle all insurance. $7.25 was collected to apply toward a grange scholarship. Student has to be a grange member to be eligible for the scholarship. The grange voted to sponsor a fund raising project for the Babe Ruth baseball league as a Community Service project. The next meeting will be June 17, starting at 8 p.m. There will be no potluck suppers during the summer months. Mrs. Harold Baker's kinder garten class finished their year last Friday, and she took them and other pre-schoolers on a tour of the local post office.
