HEPPNER GAZETTE Community Fills Church Sunday For Dedication By MART LEE MARLOW (Hold over from last week) BOARDMAN Over ons attended the services for the new 200 pers dedication Boardman held Sun Community church. day morning following regular services. Rev. Walter Duff. Dal las, national chairman of the Village Missions, gave the ded ication address. Rev. George Neelev. church pastor, sang "Nailed To The Cross", and Mrs. Wavne Kuhn sang "Down From His Glory." Following the ad dress and prayer by Rev. Duff, Rev. Neeley cut the ribbon across the altar. Following the services, a pot luck dinner was enjoyed at the Greenfield Grange Hall with again over 200 attending. Many former members and friends of the church came from great dis tances. May Dot Festi Titles Carried out Circus Theme Pam Hug. fourth grader, was crowned May Day queen at the "Circus Frolic" program held last Thursday in the school gymnasium. Don Russell was crowned king. Their attendants were Callv Broadbent and Ken neth Sicard, first grade; Karen Baker and Gayl Phillips, second grade; and Pam Daniels and Danny Shoemake. third grade. Presentation of the colors was bv the third grade boys. Baton twirlers were Denise Henkle, Roberta Sicard and Davene Da vid. Bill Wheelhouse was ringmas ter of the following program: Bucket Square, grade school; Mother Goose, kindergarten; Merry-go-round, first grade; clowns, third grade; Spoonful of Sugar, kindergarten; Candy stick Kids, second grade; wild animals, fourth grade; Hula dancers, third grade; tumblers, fourth grade; jester, Don Rus sell; winding of the Maypole, first and second grades. Following the program the children served refreshments to their mothers, with Mrs. Bob Si card and Mrs. Bob Hutchings at the punch bowl, and Mrs. Stan Henkle and Mrs. Andy Jones cutting and serving the cake. Mr. and Mrs. Dewey West, Jr. were honored with a surprise celebration of their silver anni versary Sunday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Black. Co-hosts were Mr. and Mrs. Carioll Donovan and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bates. Those present included Mr. and Mrs. Dewey West, Sr. of Woodburn, 2nd Lt. Larry West, of Fort Ben nings. Ga., Mr. and Mrs. Dale Russell and Danny, Steve and Dalene, and Mr. and Mrs. John Hutson and son Phil, all of The Dalles; Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wetherell and son Lee, of Rich land. Wn , Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Wetherell of Hermiston, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Becks and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Wetherell of lington, Mr. and Mrs. Cronquist of Pendleton, and Mrs. Seth Russell, Ar Ray Mr. Mr. Mr. End Mrs. Vernon Russell, and Mrs. Ron Daniels, Mrs. Zoe Billings, Mrs. Roy Partlow, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Skoubo and Mrs. R. Mrs. Henry Zivney and her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Don Farmer, all of Oswego, and her sister, Mrs. George Donaldson of Vancouver, Wash., were week-end visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rash. Sunday guests in cluded Mr. and Mrs. Bob Lowe and daughters Tarina, Cindy and Robin of Mosier, and Mr. and Mrs. Myron McKinnis and three children of Hermiston. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lay of Canby, former residents here about 25 years ago, were week end visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Ely. Mrs. Earl Downey of Prosser, Wash, was a week-end visitor at the homes of her son and daugnter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Don Downey, and her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Ferguson. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Root and daughter Jane of Wasco visited at the home of Root's mother, Mrs. Leo Root, during the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Russell and children Danny, Steve and Da lene, were week:end visitors at the home of Russell's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Seth Russell. Mr. and Mrs. Rod Flug went to Prineville on a fishing trip over the week-end. Mrs. Leo Root accompanied her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Max Deweese of Grandview, Wash, to Arlington the first of last week to visit at the home of their brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Al Macomber, and the Macomber's son-in-law and daughter, Major and Mrs. Dale Mackey and fam ily, who are leaving for Ger many to be gone three years. Mardee Childers, Riverside High school senior, and daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Child ers, has been accepted in the school of nursing at the Eman uel hospital in Portland, and will enter there in September. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ball, Sr. re turned home last week from a ten day trip visiting relatives. They went first to Yakima, Wash, to visit Ball's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Ball, then to Seattle, Wash, to visit at the home of Mrs. Ball's son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Mallery.
