Those caught almost (inn vear later varied In size from 12 Inches down to 4M Larger fish were deep and thick ly fleshed while the small growth of fish In one pond was attributed to over stocking ana competition for feed. Fisher man's luck prevailed on Thurs day and most of the fish were gathered by seine rather man bv hook and line. ielnlng yieia ed from 57 down to four fish with short draws of the net. At the Harold Wright ranch at Ruggs, bass and blue gill were planted five years ago. Because of the few bass harvestea irom this pond attempts were made to seine It to determine the a- mount of growth and thin out noDulation. The elusive bass would not be taken by seine and th3 one lone bass caught was by a "super-duper" lure on the end of a fish pole of Andy Landforce, wildlife management specialist, Oregon State Colleges who participated in the tour. The nine inch bass caught provided demonstration for skinning and filleting. The bass provided a delicious breakfast for me on Friday morning. Interest in farm fish ponds Is very high this spring.
