Men fre quently hired for the entire season, and then , after laboring for a week or even less, came to town and refused to work long r. Knowing that men were scarce, the harvest crews made demand for higher wages, and, in the most instances, received them. The farmers declare that the experi ence of the present season will probably cause ¡he more general use of th - com bined harvesters, which cut, thresh and -ack the grain all in one process.
