Kastland took his major work under Professor Sweet ser In the biological department. The scholarship amounts to all the tuition and fees that are charged at the med ical school. Two half scholarships are also awarded each year, but no decisions have yet been made. The normal fall Is l.So. ktt O Albany, Or., Oct. 2. Fren A. San ders, an employe of the Albany Iron Works, narrowly missed death late last night from a bullet fired hy J. II. O Urlen. who has been emnloved on a local newspaper. Ihe two men hail an altercation earlier In the evening, and, after a short fist fight, O'Brien, who had been drinking, armed himself with a pistol. Meeting Sanders near the cor ner of Mrst and Lyon streets O'Brien queried: "Is your name Sanders?" and when the latter answered yes he raised the pistol and fired. The bul let grazed the right side of Soanders' fare, which was powder-burned. San ders then retreated. This morning, nt the request of O'Brien's friends.
