Harry Stucke, u farmer residing In the vicinity of Oeadwood, In tho Lake- Creek valley, .111 miles west of Kvone, was shot and killed by Har ry Tabor, deputy postmaster at Al pha. Saturday afternoon about i 4 o'c.!:i.k. A jury empaneled bv the justico of the peace of that precinct, acting In the capacity of coroner, held an In quest over Stucke'a body this morn ing and found that he came to his death from n gunshot wound nt the hands of Harry Tabor. Tabor was afterward arraigned before the Jub tlco of the peace and waived examina tion. Ho was bound over to tho cir cuit court and his hall fixed at J2, 000, which was furnished by a num ber of ell liens of that nalghboiiiood. The shooting occurred In Tabor's field. Ho and his wife were toguther and were driving the cows homo from pasture. Stucke, It appears climbed over the fence and approached them, cursing Tabor. He had 11 pistol In his hnnd ami. so the story goes, attempted to draw It on Tabor, wheruupon the latter drew his pistol, 11 .32-callbro, and fired. Stucku fell and soon afterward ex pired. Tabor linmedlalely started for Hugeuo to give himself up to Sheriff Bowu, and telephoned the sheriff what ho hud donu and that, he was coming In. The Sheriff told him to stay there and directed the consta ble, of that district to place him in custody till ihe (tho shorlff) arrived. Sheriff llown, in company with Dis trict Attorney HryHon, left here ubuut 1 o'clock Siyiday morning for the scene of the shooting, tho district attornoy coming up from Corvallla on the midnight train. They arrived there about noon Sunday mid at once proceeded to Investigate the shouting, and the causes leading up to It.
