Rlukely, of Roschurg. will at the next council meeting apply for a franchise fur a trolley line in Med ford, says me Tribune. At the same time he will apply tor one In Ashland anil one In Jacksonville. It is the in tention eventually to extend the lien to Central Point. Hold Hill. Wood vllle and Grams Pass, making it an Interurhan proposition. No one of the cities would Justify an electric railroad of Itself, but an interurhan road would be a paying Investment. Mr. Hlukely will apply for a fran chise on Seventh street and on C street, and will be ready to lay rails aa soon as the franchise Is granted, so as not to delay street paving. The franchise governing all the streets, to Jacksonville, while the Ashlnnd line would come In on C street. A special election for the franchise could be called within ten days, and the work begin at once when granted. Mr. Blakely, through his partner, Jeff D. Heard, applied for a blanket frnachise covering all the streets, but It was refused because the streets desired were not specified. Had the franchise been granted, Medford would today boast of a trolley line. Mr. Blakely states that he repre sents Cleveland, Ohio, capitalists, but he is generally supposed to represent A. Welch, the builder of the Willam ette Valley traction line, with whom he has been associated in several en terprises. HORSE ALLOWED TO STARVE TO DEATH WIMAli rolN'K IN Mi;s. MOIS- (i.VN's i!i;. Mrs. Mor gan did not own a horse, nor did she know that one had been taken to her barn. It has ueen tied there by some one and left to starve to death. How long It had been there no one knows, as the barn Is unused and had not been entered by any one except by the person who took the horse there for several weeks. The officers were notified and the carcass was hauled away. How the horse came to be there and to whom it belonged la a mystery, TRANSFERS OF LANE COUNTY REAL ESTATE Mary E. To fcive them an opportunity, Mr. Hartsoek walked to another part of the store, where. while unobserved by them, they were I in full view. No sooner had Mr. Hurt-1 sock disappeared than each lad set.ed ' a package of postcards and made off.! Kach secreted his package into his shirt as he went. Mr. Hartsoek gave pursuit. It took four blocks of swift traveling to over take them. He seized both, and con fronted them with his accusation. They denied, but he started to lead them to an office. Then one reached inside tils shirt and brought forth his package of cards. The other confes sed to taking the cards, but in his haste to elude pursuit the package had slipped down inside his clothing and disappeared through the leg of his overalls, a story that was subse quently confirmed by finding the package on the sidewalk. 1VISON NKWS (Special Correspondence.)
