O ver the weekend, members of the Siuslaw boys bowling team defeated both Marshfield and North Bend in the Reedsport Tournament finals to nab first place in the 12-team competition. “The guys did a very good job,” said Dusty Anderson, coach and bowling pro- gram coordinator for the Vikings. “It was a great team effort.” The Viking boys bowled a total of 24 games and averaged 178 pins per game, earning a spot in the finals. From there, the Viks outbowled Marshfield 342 to 329 in two games, then took on North Bend, defeating the Bulldogs in two games 339 to 323 for the tournament title. On Sunday, the Lady Vikings were at Cottage Grove, where they competed in a six-team mixed tournament that included boys and girls teams. Siuslaw finished first among the girls teams and second overall, with the Cottage Grove boys taking first place. “The girls bowled well and lost to a very good Cottage Grove boys team,” said Anderson. “It was a good weekend for all our teams.” W ARMING PHOTO BY KELLY SCHMIDT The Siuslaw 1 team took the Reedsport tourney title Saturday. Fish are beginning to enter the mainstem.
