On Thursday, Feb. 5, local healthful cooking enthusiasts will teach tips and tricks for quick, tasty, hearty and health- ful soups. “The interest in a healthful, plant-based diet is growing, so we will be sharing some of our favorite soups for these chilly winter months,” said organizer Linda Lydick. “We’ll demonstrate easy-to- prepare, no-cholesterol, deli- cious soups — you’ll get sam- ples and we will give you the recipes,” said Lydick. Lydick added that these soups are sure to become fam- ily favorites and popular addi- tions to church, office or neighborhood potlucks. “Bring the family or friends,” Lydick said. This year’s annual Community Health Fair will be April 17-19, at the Florence Events Center. It is presented as a community service by the Florence Seventh-Day Ad- ventist Church and is under- written by the Korando Dental Group. The three-day event will include exhibitors from noon to 5 p.m. on Friday, April 17, then a wide variety of health talks from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 18. There also will be a 5K walk/run on Sunday, April 19, beginning at 9 a.m. Boys and Girls Club hosts Pub Crawl Feb. 7 Come and shake off those post-holiday blues and share a cup of cheer with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Lane County and the Winter Pub Crawl.
