Washington, Oct. L'2. Jiuljje Maituew 1 Dealy, of Oieijon, fore whom tke-farjicus Sharon-Hill ease was brought to a' hearing, is in Washington. Judge Deady wrote the opinion declaring the famous marria je contract a forgery. Judge lawyer wrote the contrary opinion. Being interviewed by a I'ost reporter, Judge Deady said: "I came Kast to the Episcopal con vention at New York. Yes, I sat in the Hill case. The fact is that woman was merely Ins mistress. He gave her $500 a month, fur nished magnificent quarters and spent Money on her lavishly. Her influence on Judge Terry was un doubtedly bad. She urged him to act against his own inclination. In November she will be tried before me for a rehearing of authorities. Very likely she at some favorable opportunity will attempt the lives of Justice Field, Judge Sawyer or myself. I predict she will die a violent death." THE EPISCOPAL CONVENTION. Washington, Oct. 22. The Episcopal convention merely con sidered the reports and routine business and decided on balloting for the next convention. a cabinet meeting. Washington, Oct. 22. Bow tne Male nmd Fenaal .Slaves are Sold at Auction. London, Oct. 22. A letter from Zanzibar received at the oflice of tin.' anti-slavery society here re ports the buying and selling of humr.n chattels in the streets of that city as being curried on with scarcely any attempt at conceal ment, w lien tne auctions are neiu at, wmcii slaves are boioiv ex posed to the gaze of intending buy ers, in many cases each slave carries a placard suspended from his neck upon which is written the price at which he can be bought. The women are net usually ticketed in this manner, but are scld for- what they will fetch, 1 he ordinary price being from C( to .C 10 each if young. The slave merchants who cairy on the traffic are all wealthy, but it appears to be well understood in Zanzibar that rich firms of English traders furnish nd the capital to conduct the business. I am as sured on exceptional authority that the Prince of Wales has been warned bj his physicians that he has Brig ht's disease incurably fastened upon hire. There seems to be no ground for immediate apprehensions, but my informant says that the chances are said to be against his living through next year. How the JCuMixhers Arkansaw Traveler a Made the Success. Opie Reed. When P. D. Benham and I started the present Arkansaw Trav eler we had, after payiog for the type, just money enough to get out three issues; but as I had run ex cuse me, walked so many papers without any money at all, I felt greatly encouraged. It was some time before we began to put money in the bank -indeed, our business in that direction has never enjoyed a rush. There were times when it was a strain to pay the printers, but they didn't seem to leel it. They took the noney as emotion lessly as if we had found it id the road. For a long time adversers were slow in recognizing our "uo rivaled facilities."' They were ex tremely stupid. They didn't come around and dispute any of our assertions. They silently accepted our statements, but continued to neslect their opportunities. We sent them the following circular: "Gentlemen: The Arkansaw Traveler now goes all over the world, and it is with diiiicultv that we have kept it from going to hell." After this stittemeot had been made, advertisements began to move towards us. Colonel Ben bimons advertised for a stray calf, and John W. Fillpot put in no an nouncement to the effect that he would not be responsible for debts contracted ly his wife. We sent for Mrs. Fillpot and told her that she had been insulted. "But what km I to do?"' siie asked. ".Madam,"' my partner answered, "put in au advertisement bating that you will not be responsible for debts con tracted by your husband." She did b and our paper became a success. COMMAND. I IAVV CROCKETT'S Oi ifjin f a . Saying iTliat is Kiiottii All Over tbe World. Ne.v Ki'yliiiil Magazine. In. Jackson's campaign ot 1812 originated the uow world-wide motto, "Be sure you are right and then go ahead. " The fact was given me perscu i'!y by Genera! William Moore, ia tLvse words: "I was a Capta'.n, Lut a very jouog aiau, in that command. I) vy CrockeH was in my company, quite young and awkward. I ha t trouble with my men aud told them I would go ai d lay my cm plaints before tho General. I did so, and young Crockett officiously weDt along. When I had stated mv case, the Geueral said: 'Cap tain, don't make any orders with cut needing .hero, and then execute them, no matter what it casts. "Returning to camp, the boys wanted to know what tbe General said, when Davy Crockett, with a big laugb, eaia : 'The General told the Captain to be sure he is right, and then go ahead.'" General Moore informed mc that the next day Crockett's words were in the mouth of every soldier in the regi ment and they were used all through the campaign. "Be sure you are risht and then so ahead" is a common eaying now wherever; tbe English language is spoken. BiK&rnalng da Unseen Fee. "This wa sometime a paradox," Hamlet ays. Since, however, the people of America and other .'ana havo been enabled to nit ilostetter'i 8tomach Bitters against that unseen foe, malaria, it is no longer a paradox, but an easv possibility. Whatever malaria evolves Its misty venom to joison tho klr, and decaying unwkole tome vegetation impregnater tho water, there, in the very stroagaoW of miasma, is the auxiliary potent to disarm tho foe and assure efficient protection. FeTer and ague, oiliow remittent, dumb gue and ague cake, no matter how tenaciously they havo fastened their clutch on the system, are first forced to relax their gran and eventually to abandon it alto gether. But it i preventive force that should chiefly recommend the Bitters to persons dwelling in malaria cursed locaiities, for it is a certain buckler of defence against which the enemy .s pov erless.
