One recently at ilenns Falls, New York, played joke by tying one end of a rope to a deeping man and the other end to a rapidly revolving shaft. The result ot course was the death of the victim. All practical jokes of course do not terminate so latally, but none of them, as a general thing give any pleasure to any per son outside of the jcker himself, while invariably they give pain and mortification to the victim, and sometimes to many others. The practical jokers should all ho lele gated to a barren island where they can indulge their jokes upon their own ilk and no others. 4'onlrartor and ICiillder.
