Hawkias Found Guilty of Morder in Second Degree Prison for Life. the Sai.eu, July IS. V. E. Hawkins this morning" was found guilty of murder in the second degree for the killing of F. II. Ogle, on the streets of Salem the 1st of last May. Sen tence will be passed at 1 o'clock to-morrow afternoon. The counsel for the defense will rile a motion for a new trial, and if not granted an appeal will likely be taken to the supreme court. The opinion of the majority here is that Hawkins should be satisfied. The execu tive committee is now correspond ing with San Francisco with a view to seeing what can be done to secure such an excursion.
