Informa tion was received here to-day from Dallas of an altercation winch oc curred near Ballston, Polk county, and which will undoubtedly resmt in the death of one ot the parties. Davis immediately arose to his feet, and when passing under the feed table of the machine jerked out a large oak stick that had been used as a support to the table, and struck Tindle over the head, knock ing him insensible. Examination revealed the fact that Tindle was seriously injured, and Davis, after instructing the men to take Tindle ! to the house and go for a doctor, j said he would go and give himself up, and left the crowd, since which j time nothing has been heard or ; occu ui ii mi, Tindle is reported badlv hurt j and not liable to recover, j Mr. Davis is supposed to be hid ing in the vicinity, and if Tindle j'VProyes he will come in and give himself up to the authorities; but in case of the death of Tindle, he will endeavor to escape. About 1 o clock Sunday morning the citizens of Dallas were awakened by the peal of the fire bell. The alarm was caused by the burning of a barn belonging to Hon. J. D.
