Mr. Chakles Bradlaigii, of the English house of commons thinks that Queen Victoria is too old to commence the stud' of Hindoo stanee, ana tneretore objects to a bill appointing a teacher tor that object, with a salary of 1500 rupees per month. He evidently thinks she is too old to learn. The Chronicle dishes up the postoffice department management in very plain language, while re ferring to the fact that all regis tered matter passing between Portland and San Francisco has to go by the way of Ogden. It says: "We in California have seen some startling illustrations of democratic economy in postal matters. We have seen tons of printed mail matter dumped into the ocean be cause it could not be delivered; "we have seen sacks of mail burned up to get it out of the way; we have seen the delivery of letters delayed two or three days because the postmaster was not allowed j sufficient clerical assistance ; and 1 now we see registered letters sent I The St.Louis democratic national all the way around Robin Hood's 1 convention, it is said, will select a ex-tion of the principles of the Mills bill j for the foundation principles of the democratic platform at St. Louis, is -ikely to meet with strong opposi tion.
