A collision occurred on the Cheyenne and northern branch of the Union Pacific near Bordeaux, between a rock train and a passenger engine, which resulted iiithe death 01 pas senger conductor iiaaer, v lrenuin Erin and Brakemati Mansfield and probably fatal injury of Engineers Brooks and Marsden, and serious injury of four other employes. A washout occasioned the sending out of a work train. On the arrival of the north bound passenger train at Bordeaux the conductor, run to the scene of the washout with an einptv engine to learn the situation. While making the run the collision occurred w ith the work train, whic h was running to Bjrdeaux ;tl iv.li speed. The gal leries were crowded when Chair man St. John rapped the prohibi tion convention to ordej-. The convention immediately proceeded to get to work on the rule limiting debate on the suff rage -question, those most interested in this probable plank in the plat form objecting strongly to so se rieusly circumscribing the debate. The rules ere finally adopted as reported. A special motion by the JKew York delegate to limit the de bate on the suffrage plank to three hours was defeated, and the report of the committee on finance was presented. It recommends the adoption of the national commit tee's plank already formulated Jfor assessment by the states, with an additional provision that volunteer contributions be taken in conven tion. The report was adopted. The convention next proceeded to the collection of voluntary contri butions, and there was seen one of those enthusiastic occurrences pe culiar to prohibition conventions. Many contributions were received n amounts ranging from $2000 t own, and will aggregate $25,000. One thousand dollars was contrib uted by R. H. McDonald, of Cali fornia, who was before the conven tion of '84 for head of the ticket. The delegate from Portland, Ore- ! gon; pleuged $1000 trom his state California s aggregated $2000. Illinois Democrats. Vasdalia, May 31. The seven teenth Illinois democratic congres sional convention renominated Hon. E. H. Lane for congress. A SCAM ALOIS AFFAIR. The Wife of Cleveland's First Cousin icts a IMrorce. Buffalo (N. Y.), May 31. The people of Loekport are highly scandalized because Mrs. John Cleveland has obtained a divorce from her husband. He claims to be first cousin of President Cleve land, and to have been a visitor at the White house. The referee in the case was that shrewd republi can politician, Dick Crowley. The parties were married four teen years ago and have two chil dren, who have been confided to the custodr of the mother by the court. The co-respondents are Mrs. Annie Cobb, who was at one time a domestic in the family, and Mrs. Sarah White, a Syracuse grass widow, with whom Cleve land lived for some time after his liason with Mrs. Cobb, wnich was confided by her to the wife. Tlie Journal prints the following from New Haven: Herr Most's bomb manufactory has been discovered. It is a little cottage in Whitney ville, rented by Rudolph Koepke, an employe of the Whitney Arms Company. Herr Most visits the factorv regularly and his visits are made "the occasion of great rejoic ing by a band of anarchists. Be cently there have been several explosions at the cottage. A com panion of Koepke is authority for the statement that the bombs are made and stored at the cottage.
