I O G O o O SUMMARY OF NEW GAME LAW Gist of Statutes Governing Fishing and Hunting *n Oregon as Amended Salem. Ore., March 20—The following is a summary of the pro visions of the Oregon game law, known as Senate bill 99, and as chapter 228 of the session laws of 1909: Beaver, closed until January 1, 1920. Buck Deer, closed season from November 1 to August 1 following, except in Wallowa, Union, Baker, Umatilla, Grant, Malheur and Har ney, where the closed season is from November 1 to September 15 fol lowing . Female Deer, closed season at all times. Night hunting and sale of deer absolutely prohibited. Limit of five deer in one season established. Use of dogs, watching stands or trails and mutilating corcass so as to disguise sex of deer prohibited. Spotted Fawn or Young Deer, closed season at all times. Elk, closed season August 1 to September l; limit one male elk in a season; killing of female elk forbidden. Mountain Sheep and Antelope, closed at all times. Silver GraySquirrel,closed season, January 1 to October I. WATER FOWL Ducks, general law, closed season February 15 to October 15. Limit, 35 ducks in one week. Sale per mitted from from November 15 to December 15. Ducks (Multnomah), Columbia and Clatsop counties), closed season, January 15 to September 1. Sale forbidden. Ducks, (Harney, Grant, Baker, Union, Wallowa, Umatilla, Morrow and Malheur counties), closed sea- •on, April 1 to September 1. Sale forbidden. Geese and Swan, closed season, March 1 to October 1. Hunting or killing on islands or sandbars along Columbia river forbidden at all times. Sale forbidden. Geese and Swan, (Harney, Grant, Klamath, Lake, Malheur, Baker, Union, Wallowa, Sherman and Gil liam counties) closed season, April 1 to September 1,except honker geese. Sale forbidden. Honker Geese (Grant, Harney and Malheur), closed season, March I to September 1. Sale forbidden. Use of sink box, sink boat, sneak boat, skifl, steam or gasoline launch to bunt ducks, geese or swan forbid den on Yaquina Bay below Mill Four Slough or on Coos Bay or tributaries, or on Columbia river or tributaries, (except Willamette above Oregon City). Use of battery, swivel or pivot gun tor shooting ducks, geese and swan forbidden. Use of fire or flash light forbidden. Lawful to shoot geese in grain fields at any time to prevent de struction of grain. Use of blinds more than 100 feet from shore forbidden. ♦ birds in a day or 10 birds in a week in any county. Quail, (Jackson and J osephine counties) closed season December 15 to October 15 following, Limit five birds a day or 10 birds a week. Sale forbidden. Quail and Chinese pheasants (Grant, Harney, Wheeler, Gilliam, Umatilla, Morow and Malheur counties), clos’d until October 15, 1913; then closed from November 15 to October 15 following. Shore and wading birds, closed season March 1 to October 1. Limit 50 birds in one week. Doves and wild pigeons, closed season January 1 to September 15. Trapping, netting or snaring of any kind of game birds is forbidden, as is also robbing of nests, scatter ing of poisoned grain. Tresspass without permission is forbidden. Setting fire to tule swamps i prohibited. Pheasants raised in captivity may be sold at any time, but the birds must be pinioned by amputating the first joint of the wing while young. Trout, General law, closed sea son, November, December. January, February and March. No trout or char or salmon under six inches to be taken. Trout (Baker county) closed season, November to June inclusive. Trout (Link River, Klamath county) closed season, June, July and August. Trout (Rogue river and tribu taries), taking with hook and line permitted. with Salmon Trout—Taking hook and line permitted Sale of trout, except salmon trout, prohibited unless propogated in a private hatchery. Night fishing for trout prohibited except in the Coquille riven Trout limit 75 in one day except in Klamath county, where the limit is 25 in a day, or not to exceed 20 pounds. Bass, may be taken only with hook and line* Use of explosives or poisons to kill fish forbidden.
