New C hildren’s Protection Services Building, Ron Hager, CPS Director, to construct a new building that gives temporary shelter to children in ages ranging from infancy to seventeen. The approximate size of the facil ity is a 94’x54.5’ building with a 80’x110’ parking lot. A wood framed structure with seven sleeping rooms each with a bunk bed, boy’s and girl’s bathrooms, kitchen, laundry and general living areas. A portion of the build ing will be used for administrative offices, a reception area for families whose children are housed there, of fice and support spaces for caseworkers. The present building is 25 years old, is deteriorating and getting harder to maintain. Originally it was a residence and modified to accommodate the needs of the CPS opera tion. This use has added to the depreciation of the struc ture. The Health and Human Services Department has secured funding of the new facility. The area is Tribal Land located South of the IHS building on top of the hill. This area is presently zoned as Public Use and this facility fits that criteria.
