Registration began earlier this week; then on Saturday Feb. 23 is ball-field work day. W ednesday, Feb. 27 is coaches meeting at 6 p.m. at the Community Center. Sunday, March 3 is ball- field work day; and Saturday, March 9 is the Boys Baseball Clinic at the fields. Sunday, March 10 is the Girls Softball Clinic at the fields. Monday, March 11 is the prize drawing for all com pleted registrations. Tryouts are March 12-15. Important Cobell deadlines Boys and Girls Club fundraiser at KNT in April T he Warm Springs Boys and Girls Club will host the G re a t F u tu res S tart H ere fundraiser at Kah-Nee-Ta on Saturday, A pril 27. E vents include dinner, live and silent auction, a raffle, entertain m ent and a golf scramble. This year marks the fifth year o f operations for the Warm Springs Boys and Girls Club w ith funding support fro m th e C o n fe d e ra te d Tribes. T he tribes provide funding for 27 percent o f the club annual budget. T he o ther 73 percent is received through m em ber ship fee^, grants, fundraising and generous, donations. T he club is anticipating reduced funding from the tribes, so the fundraiser this year is m o re critical th an ever. Tickets are $50 in advance (with 10 raffle tickets); and $60 at the door the night o f the event (raffle tickets pur ch ased sep arately at th e door). Baby Fair at center Judge: Program targeting sea lions can continue (AP) — A federal judge has ruled that the National Ma rine Fisheries Service did not err w hen it reauthorized a program targeting sea Hons fo r d e a th in th e P acific Northwest. Judge Michael Simon said in a ruling issued last Friday that the program intended to preserve endangered salmon by killing sea lions is within the bounds o f the fisheries service. “This case is about how C ongress, NM FS, and the Reminder: The Cobell Salazar deadline date is March 1,2013. Barring a successful ap peal, the decision means the lethal-take program will re sume when the seal lions re turn to Bonneville this spring. NM FS plans to assess the program again after 2016.
