There are 27 nominees for the Agency D istrict; thirteen for Simnasho; and six for Seekseequa. The district voters in April will choose the next Tribal Council. Agency and Sim nasho will elect th re e C o u n cil m e m b e rs, and Seekseequa Voters will choose two. Awakening for his senior thesis. ' The movie is about a Native American teen who is sent to a Shaman by his grandmother, in hopes o f restoring his faith in his culture. Starring in the movie is Louise K atchia, F o ste r K alam a and Solomon Trimble, w ho also had a part in the popular movie Twi light. “Working with Mr. Solomon Trimble was great,” said Foster Kalama. “Using his acting expe riences made it a lot easier for me.” It was also helpful having Katchia walk him through his parts, Kalama Said. Katchia has a film crew that trav els w ith h im to W arm Springs to shoot the scenes. He describes his experience w orking with the crew; “I had seen all the w ork that gobs into a movie, the long hours, and a lot o f thinking... This team was awesome!” K a tc h ia has b een raisin g money to cover th e expenses o f the crew and equipment needed to complete the student project. P.0. Elders o f tribes are passing away,” he says, “and with them the knowledge o f our sa cred ways and practices.” Katchia needs the film to com plete his degree; but he has already completed several other projects, including a music Video for local rappers Bigg B and N 8, which can be seen on his youtube chan nel along w ith some o f his other work.
