After 30 days, the vehicle becomes the property o f the Police Department; which can then sell the vehicle or sell parts as scrap. Any revenue is dedicated to operating the lot, which is protected by an electrified fence. There is^no daily storage fee for tribal member vehicles at the lot. The issue o f the lot came up last week at Tribal Coun cil. Councilman Eugene Aus tin G reene Jr. asked Public Safety Branch manager Stan Suenaga about the policy, as a constituent had a vehicle towed from the reservation to a lot in Madras. The Madras lot charges a daily fee. Vehicles are towed from the reservation to the Madras lo t o n ly w h en th e W arm Springs im pound lot is com pletely full, said Suenaga. T he Police D ep artm en t has been doing a good job lately o f keeping the lot less than full; so vehicles are not b ein g to w ed to M adras, Suenaga said. The average tow cost for a vehicle tow ed from the Agency area is about $120, Suenaga said. The fee can be as high as $200 to $300 for vehicles towed from outlying areas.
