At tngnieenih and coucn streets, Air. Morgan next erected a modern, four story apartment at a cost of $30,000. Best In it Class. The handsomest of this class of build Ina-s so far erected by Mr. Morgan is tne Madlson-T-arK. at tne soutneast cor ner of Park and Madison atreeta. This Is a pressed brick building, five stories high and cost $87,600. This is one of the best equipped apartment houses in the country, and la quite the equal of anything of the kind west of Chicago. It is eoulDDed with automatic elevators, the floors throughout are of hardwood and the doors are mahogany. Mr. Mor gan next built the Roosevelt at Eigh teenth and Kearney atreets. This build ing was erected especially for families with small children, but it waa lmmedi- atplv filled with tenants without chil dreri. the Idea of an apartment house built especially for children did not seem to tak,e with the heads of fam ilies. Adiolhlnsr the Roosevelt la the Kearney, at the corner of Twenty-first and Kearney. This is a very attractive building, done In plaster cast, with col umn effect. The doors throughout this building are mahogany, and the interior finish is white enamel. Fire stories Kltfh. Under construction at hls time is a five-story brick veneer structure, on King street near Washington, for the Hanover Building company, which will cost about $50,000. and one for H. R Reynolds on Wayne street, between King and St. Clair, which will contain eight four-ropm apartments. Mr. Mor gan also has under construction a nurses' home for Martin Winch at Four teenth and Market sxreets. Disappear ing beds and bay window kitchenettes are two attractive and unique features of this building. Mr. Morgan has come to be known as the father of apartment nouse construction in fortlana. Isherwood has begun the erec tion of a three-atory frame store and lodging-house on Seventeenth atreet, be tween Washington and Alder atreeta. The building will occupy a full 60 foot lot and will cost about $15,000. Architect D. L. Williams haa the work in hand. Architect Joseph Jacobberger has ceased taking bids for the Benedictine Fathers' building to be erected at Mount Angel, and will let the contract in the next few days. Architect W. L. Morgan haa taken out the permit for the erection or aiarun Winch's building to be erected on Four teenth street, between Clay and Market streets. The bulldlnar ia to be a modern apartment house and will coat between $18,000 and $20,000. Construction work on Kenton's first cement block business house began laat Monday, the building la to be 60 by 60 feet, two atorlea high and will be occu pied by Finnegan & Ballou aa a plumb ing shop. Dyer & Co., the cement block manufacture of Kenton, are at work on the contract for manufacturing the cement block for 20 residences to be erected for the Kenton Townslte com pany.
