Williams, one of the stevedoring firm of Brown ft McCabe's foremen, died at 1:10 o'clock this morning at Good Samaritan hoapttal aa a result of an accident that occurred at Llnnton yesterday afternoon. Williams was looking after the dis charging of ballast from tha hold of tha French bark General Foy when the gear carrying the heavy Iron ballast Bucket gave way. The bucket struck Williams on the head, fractured his ekull and it Js believed broke his neck. Ha waa hurried to the Good Samaritan hospital- and doctors worked over him till ha passed away, but It was feared from tha first that tha injuries were TUTSI. L Williams came to Portland about 40 years aro and had been in the employe of Brown & MeCabe for 18 years. He was born in Durham, England, 64 years ago and leaves a wife and one son, R. H. The Oregon Pine Export Lumber company has chartered the Norwegian steamer Hovdlng to carry lumber from Puget sound to Australia.
