Dolphins will be driven to mark the position of the old dyke at the mouth of the Willamette, the greater part of which was dredged out several weeks ago. The dolphin will mark the spot where the dredge failed to get in good work. The dolphfna will be driven by the Port f Portland, It having been ascer- talned that at the low stage of the riven one place in particular has but 13 feet of water. It la at that place the dol phins win be driven. The old dyke was originally built to conflno the river current Into a differ ent channel from that originally taken and it was constructed so solid that to removo It 'has been found a difficult job. Machine diggers and dredges have worked at it for weeks and yet a por tion is stiu in evidence, it is supposed that eventually the obstruction will be blasted out . way ports. Then again dis ease, fevers, over-exertion, anjriety, nervousness, rheumatism, etc. weaken the heart. The .result is shortness of breath, pal pitation, pain in the heart, or in some of the nerves of the chest or abdomen. MARINE INTELLIGENCE. There were two fairly good acts at the Orpheum. The dozen or more peo ple who give "The Military Octette,' whila they don't play with the restraint that might be wished, at least change their costumes frequently, but have three well-set scenes and give the in spiring military bugle calls with good effect. Miss Keith, "The Girl With the Baton," who leads the octette, goes at her work with an enthusiasm that counts for much in the success of the ct. while William A. Watklns has a good tenor voice, though not a strong one. ' An original acrobatic act Is some thing so uncommon as to arouse enthu slasm. The Four Rlanos have let go with the old stunt, and therefore suc ceed in being entertaining. There were other acts that were not novel, however. Greek Pings German. (Special D!oatrB to Th Journal.)
