Bassett of this citv, who a few days ago bought the sawmill at Corvallls from the Sun set Lumber company, yesterday filed with the Lane county clerk articles of Incorporation of the Occidental Lumber company, with headauartera in Rncene. and with a capital stock of $8,000. The new company nas taken charge of the mill, and will soon enlarcre it from a capacity of 30,000 feet per day to 60,000. Patrick J. Ryan. (RDvll Dispatch to Tb Journal.) Jacksonville, Or., Aug. 4. Patrick J. Ryan. 78 years of age, a pioneer mer chant of Jacksonville, died Monday nt hla home In this city. Mr. Ryan was born in Thurles, Tlpperary county, Ire land. In 1842 he came to America and lived for ten yeara with his parents In Edinburgh, Ind. In 1853 he Joined an emigrant train which crossed the plains by ox team. Mr. Hargrove and Champion Pavne of Ashland were members of the emigrant train. Mr. Ryan stopped at Oregon City for about one month. He then came to Jacksonville, where he had resided con tinuously since.
