She is mainly interested in modern and W est Indian dancing, but doesn't restrict her interest to them . Pacific North Portlaad yari The Oregon Public U tility Commission er has announced an investigation into safety practices and service in Union Pacifie Railroad's North Portland yard. Commissioner Charles Davis said reports of accidents and property damage coupled w ith complaints about service prompted his decision to investigate whether U F a switching practices in the ares threaten the safety of the public or railroad employees, and w hether service Three serious accidents have occurred in the ares w ithin the last few months. Two occurred at Nicolai Co.. 1812 N . Columbia Blvd., including one May 24 in which an employee of the firm was struck by a U P freight car and lost a leg. Blanchard replied that many comments raise serious questions about w hether desegregation should occur. “Because the citizens want to have input before decisions are made are they being anti-desegregation?" she asked. She said she had spoken to many people and had not heard anyone talk against desegregation. “People have said, 'W e want you to look nt w hat we feel and what we eee happening to our children before you make any more that although parents have been sub jected to the tragedy of “mindless deseg rogation" they are still committed to desegregation.
