Quality Jobs I Quality Care An Update for Homecare Workers Local 99 august 2005 40^ Signing the contract - made possible by member involvement - phone calls, letters and rallies led to a winning contract! Homecare Workers Win Second Contract SEIU Local 503 reached a tentative agreement (TA) with the Homecare Commission (HCC) on August 3rd. This TA will be voted on by all homecare workers through a mail ballot. Ballots will be mailed on August 12 and are due on September 16. ■ Lowering the threshold for health insurance coverage from 88 to 80 hours per month ■ Establishing a system for family coverage, including payroll deduction and coordination with Family Health Insurance Assistance Program (FHIAP) Highlights of the Homecare contract victory include: IMPROVEMENTS IN HEALTH CARE INCREASED WAGES AND BENEFITS ■ Maintaining health care and Workers' Compensation ■ Wages increase by 25 cents per hour on July 1, 2005 and July 1,2006 ■ Adding dental and vision coverage in April 2006 ■ Paid time off increased from one day per year to four days per year. ■ Mileage increased to 40 cents per mile. ESTABLISHING A HOMECARE TRAINING PROGRAM ■ A brand new training program includes union representation on the training committee and paid time off for homecare workers to attend various trainings.
