Both students made the Spring Honor Roll. -oerald Pond, Portland State University, completed an Adult Education class in Educa tion. Tina Wooten, Chemeketa Community College completed an Adult Education class in Nur sing. Congratulations! CETA has three participants who are making excellent progress towards their GED's. Theo Sheridan, Salem Area Office trainee has completed four out of five GED test's. Theo is the daughter of Bruce Butler III. ( 4-16-81 Theo received her GED ) Debbie Bostrom and ^Mar^Voutrin are attending GED Classes they will be taking their tests on April 14, 1981. P e n n y D o w n e v daughter of Roy Downey Jr. has completed four out of five of her tests, her final GED test is April 16, 1981. Siletz members in the Grand Ronde area will be starting a crepe paper flower class in April. The class will be held at Claudia Leno's home in Grand Ronde. JO H N SO N O iM A L L E Y NEW S B y :D o n l W h it e Beginning April 9, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. B e t t y Pi nn^<-nnc;p ? a ;JOM parent, will teach a class on Ojos (God's Eyes) and yarn and wicker baskets. The class will be held at Highland School, 2153 5th Street NE, in the Music Room. The class will run ' for 8 weeks, ending May 28. All Salem JOM students are invited to participate. . Students younger than the third grade are required to have a parent attend the class with them. Three students from Salem will be attending the Northwest Indian Youth Conference in Quinalt, Washington, April 9,10, and 11. They are Robert Ghostbear, Michelle Ricketts, and Marten Pinnecoose. An exhibit of historical Siletz artifacts and photographs sponsored by the Salem JOM Parent Committee is currently on display at the Georgia-Pacific Historical Museum, 900 SW Fifth, Portland. Museum hours are 10-3, Tuesday through Friday. The exhibit runs through June 12. It is hoped that as many Tribal members as possible will be able to see this fine exhibit. Thanks are due to Delores Pigsley, Dorreen Lonefight Alta Courville, Shirley Strickler, Pauline Ricks, Bob Tom, Jean Sherwood, the Horner Museum at Oregon State University, the Oregon State Anthropological Museum at the University of Oregon, and the many other people who shared information and suggestions which helped make this exhibit very successful. C .H R NEW S April 2, 1981 a Parent effectiveness class at Chemawa Clinic started, Chris Lowery, Social Worker, is conducting the class. The class will last four weeks, the parents that are attending will learn more about active listening and communication with their children. If you are interested in attending the next class call Jolyne Ward Salem Area Office, 393-3912. The Salem C.H.R. is planning to visit the Tribal members in her service area. Don't be surprised to find Jolyne at your front door to visit, to do a health profile. 8
