SANDY, OREGON, THURSDAY, APRIL 13, 1972 Richard Warren • Owner ★ Brake Work * W heel Balancing ★ Tune-Ups ★ W hite Gas ★ M etered Propane Service Property O w ners Speak It was obvious Monday night that the property owners in this area, like those in the rest of the state, feel their property is being over taxed and appraised It w as stated that the Sandy-Boring- Hoodland area of Clackamas County is getting the bad end of the reap praisal in the county. Several persons stated ideas of not paying property taxes or getting out of the country, while others favored defeating local tax measures to stop the increase in taxes on their property. As if to say this is what they will do, the following day. Sandy city voters defeated the proposed 1972-1973 budget 120 to 90. This budget had called for an increase of over $39,000 to be raised by taxes. School levies will go before the voters on May 1 and the city and the fire district are planning to seek new tax bases on May 23. It remains to be seen what the voters will do to these tax measures Corner Hiway 26 and Bluff Rd. 6 68 -5 6 22 By Ace Reid COW POKES 1 --- - 7 LETTERS ToThe EDITOR The Brouhaha a t K lam ath Falls To the Editor: land contained buildings I cannot im agine what Volunteer firem en save This is going to be a mighty long Sandy Rural F ire D istrict Commissioners Schumacher year for Democrats in the State of damage; statewide kindergartens; $250.800 per year Yes that's and Stefani have to gain by forcing the total development Oregon if they're stuck with the tuition-free higher education; raising correct. "C onsistently good schools tend to be in com munities that know the value of education, that want good education positively, and that are willing to pay for good education whether or not they are well off financially.” 2 “ Communities that have consistently had good schools have consistently elected able citizens to their boards of education Such communities take time to understand the function of board members, a practice which has kept them out of much school trouble.” Eugene Youngert S M Englesby DON’T GET YOURSELF IN A TIGHT SPOT.
