To the Editor
Sandy, Oregon isn't the only
place with an abundance of not
always welcome rain this year
The following was reprinted in
the Sidney "Australian” daily
in March of this year
" It raint*d and rained
and rained and rained
The average was well
maintained
And when the lawns were
simply bogs
It started raining cats and
dogs
And after a drought of half an
hour
We had the most delightful
shower,
And then the strangest thing

Property O w ners Speak
It was obvious Monday night that
the property owners in this area, like
those in the rest of the state, feel their
property is being over taxed and
appraised
It w as stated that the Sandy-Boring-
Hoodland area of Clackamas County
is getting the bad end of the reap
praisal in the county.
Several persons stated ideas of not
paying property taxes or getting out
of the country, while others favored
defeating local tax measures to stop
the increase in taxes on their
property.
As if to say this is what they will do,
the following day. Sandy city voters
defeated the proposed 1972-1973
budget 120 to 90. This budget had
called for an increase of over $39,000
to be raised by taxes.
School levies will go before the
voters on May 1 and the city and the
fire district are planning to seek new
tax bases on May 23.
It remains to be seen what the
voters will do to these tax measures
