Judy Cochran, trained in elementary education at Port­
land University, has w orked w ith VML Day Care fo r three
summers. "W e know the community. They trust us and have
given tremendous support," said Judy.
VERA GREGER AND GRACIELA CARDENAS
Vera and Bob Greger have seven children, yet they have found time to
help other children. The Gregers have actively supported VML Day Care
for three years. "We have learned a lot in this year's program. There is
very little money, we have had to use our knowledge and community re­
sources to care for our migrant children."

H.E.P. is a program fo r single,
young adults between 17 and 21
years

The H.E.P. program gives young
m igrant workers an opportunity to
finish high school and prepare for
college w hile attending classes at
one of ten universities in the coun­
try, including the University o f Ore-
gon. Room, board and $10.00 a
week w ill be provided for each stu­
dent. Jobs w ill also be available
for those w ho want to w ork w hile
attending school.

project, that this community w ill be ready w ith their own
child care program ."
Judy Cochran estudió educación primaria en la Universidad
de Portland y ha trabajado en el programa Day Care del VML
durante tres veranos. "Conocemos a la comunidad. Nos
tienen confianza y nos han dado gran apoyo," dice Judy.
"Sé que el dia en que el VML no pueda hacerse respon­
