Tire older .people rode on ice. It was cold and windy. We stopped once in a while for food. °ork and beans — cold — we didn't have a stove." "The man who owns us; he drove the bus. Judy I id she gave her time because she ally admired the people. They I worked very hard all day but found time to come to her class k night. Everyone in Judy's class Banted to learn. Judy was even a friend when vilai le was not in class. She helped ler students find homes and baby sitters and she helped to plan the Mexican Festival. Some people .wanted to become citizens. They were glad to have Judy help them. She helped them at night at the high school. Many times they would go to Judy's house to study and talk. They found her always w illing to help them. Now she is helping people get their G.E.D. diploma. This class is just beginning. Everyone is glad to find such a good friend as Judy Spence. "Nos vinieron a llevar. Tuvieron que alquilar un autobús extra. Los adultos viajaron en el autobús más nuevo y los niños se quedaron en el otro." El autobús de los niños tenia asientos de madera. "Nos sentamos sobre cobijas." "No tuvimos suficientes cobijas y hacía frío. Viajamos por cuatro días y cuatro noches. Dormimos en el piso. Pasamos por una montaña de hielo. Hacía frío y mucho viento. Nos paramos de vez en cuando para comprar comida. Pork and beans — frío — no tuvimos estufa. Nuestro patrón manejaba el autobús. Nunca se sentaba con nosotros. Como si fuera un camión grande de carga, siempre viajaba en la cabina. Mi mamá dijo que nos engaña ron. Nos dijeron que en Oregon habría una casa bonita en que pudiéramos vivir; que nos darían comida y ropa. No han mantenido su palabra. Ahora nos tienen aquí. No pode mos salir porque ellos tienen el autobús. Una Voluntaría Enseña Unas Clases Judy Spfence ha sido verdadera amiga del trabajador de agricul tura. El VML da las más sinceras gracias a Judy por haber donado su tiempo para enseñar las clases de G.E.D. Judy dió tres clases noc turnas cada semana a 15 estudian tes. Ella se gozó dando estas clases porque ellos tenían tanta ambición para aprender. Judy dijo que dió su tiempo porque de veras admiró a esta gente. Todos trabajaron bas tante duro durante el día pero en contraron tiempo para asistir a su clase por la noche. Todos los de la clase de Judy quisieron aprender. Judy era su amiga aún cuando no les daba clase. Ayudó a sus es tudiantes encontrar casa, y buscar a pilmamas y planear la Fiesta Mejicana. Unas personas quisieron hacerse cuidadanós de los EEUU. Se conten taron al saber que Judy les ayuda ra. Les ayudó en las escuela secun daria por la noche. Muchas veces iban a la casa de Judy para estu diar y charlar. Siempre la encontra ban dispuesta a ayudarles. Ahora está ayudando a las per sonas para conseguir su certifcado de GED. Esta clase apenas ha prin-
