Logan Wins
Runner-up Spot
at Pageant
Kera Logan
Kera Logan was named second run­
ner-up at the Miss Native American Pa­
cific Northwest Scholarship Pageant held
at Chinook Winds Casino Resort.
She also was named Miss Congenial­
ity by a vote of the contestants. She re­
ceived a $1,500 college scholarship.
Kera, 17, competed against four other
young American Indian women from Or­
egon and Washington. She’s a senior at
Taft High School in Lincoln City, Ore.
Her platform is women empowerment.
“I have always felt very passionate
about civil rights and even more so about
women’s equality and empowerment. My
dreams and aspirations are to fight for a
better tomorrow. I will work very hard and
do my best in fulfilling these goals,” said
Kera. “I am very familiar with civil rights
as I was in Street Law (amateur law) and
want to make sure that everybody, espe­
cially women, get the full benefit of these
rights.”
Kera plans to attend a culinary arts
school, preferably at Western Culinary Art
Institute. In the future, she would like to
travel to Japan to take a job as an appren­
tice and then return to the U.S. to open
her own restaurant.
Drew Johnson (Umatilla), 21. was
selected Miss Native American Pacific
Northwest. Victoria Retasket (Shuswap),
18, was selected first runner-up.
