Tribe Awarded HUD Funding for New USDA Building The Siletz Tribe received notice April 8, 2005, that Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded it $500,000 under the Indian Community Development Block Grant Program for construction of a new USDA food distri bution warehouse. The new building will be located on the Dundas property east of the city of Siletz on Logsden Road on the site next to the tribe's fleet storage area. The building will be approximately 6,300 square feet with a raised founda tion to accommodate the unloading of distribution trucks. The plan is to have a large enough area for trucks to enter and exit quickly and safely. The plan calls for a warehouse area for adequate storage and movement of product, plus a demonstration kitchen, waiting room, nutrition education class room area, and intake offices. The building will be designed to be ADA compliant with proper access for disabled tribal members and their families. The project will begin shortly with work on the water and sewer infrastruc ture and site preparation.
