CHINOOK WINDS CASINO RESORT HGTV’s Harry Rinker Appraises Treasures During Antique Week Harry Rinker, also known as HGTV’s Collector Inspector, is return ing for Lincoln City’s Antique Week. Along with other local appearances, Rinker will lecture and hold verbal appraisal clinics at the Oregon Coast Antique and Collectible Show on Feb. 11-13 in the Chinook Winds Casino Resort hotel meeting rooms. There is no admission fee and all ages are welcome to shop the dozens of vendors. One of Antique Week’s highlights is Rinker’s Appraise-athon. For a fee, Rinker will profession ally appraise up to three items. The cost to have one item appraised is $10 and for $25, you can get three items ap praised. He hosts Collector Inspector, a weekly show devoted to seeking out antiques and collectibles in private homes, on the Home & Garden Television (HGTV) network. In 1991, Rinker founded the Insti tute for the Study of Antiques & Col lectibles. Its seminars, conferences, and other educational programs are de signed to increase the skills and exper tise of auctioneers, collectors, dealers, and others within the field. The show is just part of Lincoln City’s Antique Week which runs from Feb. 11-21. Area antique stores are planning sales and special events, in cluding a Native American art work shop at the Little Antique Mall. After touring America on a self pro claimed “Poverty Tour’’ (traveling on a Greyhound bus, changing in restaurant restrooms, and working for meals), a stint on Star Search helped raise Sinbad’s profile. Although he never won, he was a finalist and appeared on the show seven times. This led to his first professional break on The New Red Foxx Show play ing Foxx’s son. Bill Cosby also noticed Sinbad’s talents and cast him on television’s A Different World, where he spent four years. Sinbad has hosted numerous TV specials, including It’s Showtime at the Apollo, Sinbad: Brain Damaged, and several other HBO specials. His first movie role was Necessary Roughness. Parts in Coneheads and Sinbad Meteor Man followed before his first starring role in Houseguest. His other films include First Kid, Jingle All The Way, Homeward Bound II, and The Cherokee Kid. Tickets for Sinbad range from $20 to $40. Show time each night is 8 p.m. “Hidden Treasure” Features Mustang GT Giveaway Chinook Winds Casino Resort is starting the New Year by giving away a 2005 Ford Mustang GT to a lucky guest on Feb. 13. This car giveaway has two primary components. It includes weekly drawings as well as the major giveaway of the car. Each week, participants will de posit their tickets into a drum located in front of the cage on the main gam ing floor. On Sundays (Jan. 9, 16, 23, 30, and Feb. 6), at 4 p.m., we will draw 10 names for a variety of prizes. Each guest whose name is drawn gets to pick one “pearl” from the treasure chest to win a variety of prizes. At 5 p.m. each Sunday, all tickets will be transferred to a main drum lo cated in the front lobby. The drum will be used for the car giveaway drawing at 4 p.m. in the main lobby on Feb. 13.
