HGTV’s Harry Rinker Appraises
Treasures During Antique Week
Harry Rinker, also known as
HGTV’s Collector Inspector, is return
ing for Lincoln City’s Antique Week.
Along with other local appearances,
Rinker will lecture and hold verbal
appraisal clinics at the Oregon Coast
Antique and Collectible Show on
Feb. 11-13 in the Chinook Winds
Casino Resort hotel meeting rooms.
There is no admission fee and all
ages are welcome to shop the dozens
of vendors.
One of Antique Week’s highlights
is Rinker’s Appraise-athon.
For a fee, Rinker will profession

Rinker will present two workshops
aimed at those who collect or are con
sidering the hobby. He hosts Collector
Inspector, a weekly show devoted to
seeking out antiques and collectibles in
private homes, on the Home & Garden
Television (HGTV) network.
In 1991, Rinker founded the Insti
tute for the Study of Antiques & Col
lectibles. Its seminars, conferences, and
other educational programs are de
signed to increase the skills and exper
tise of auctioneers, collectors, dealers,
and others within the field.
The show is just part of Lincoln
City’s Antique Week which runs from
Feb. 11-21. Area antique stores are
planning sales and special events, in
cluding a Native American art work
shop at the Little Antique Mall.

Enjoy Laughs with Sinbad
Sinbad, the uproarious comedian,
will tell his real-life stories and poke
fun at others at Chinook Winds Casino
Resort on Feb. 18-19.
After touring America on a self pro
claimed “Poverty Tour’’ (traveling on a
Greyhound bus, changing in restaurant
restrooms, and working for meals), a
stint on Star Search helped raise
Sinbad’s profile.
Although he never won, he was a
finalist and appeared on the show seven
times. This led to his first professional
break on The New Red Foxx Show play
ing Foxx’s son. Bill Cosby also noticed
Sinbad’s talents and cast him on
television’s A Different World, where he
spent four years.
Sinbad has hosted numerous TV
specials, including It’s Showtime at the
Apollo, Sinbad: Brain Damaged, and
several other HBO specials.
His first movie role was Necessary
Roughness. Parts in Coneheads and
Sinbad
Meteor Man followed before his first
starring role in Houseguest. His other
films include First Kid, Jingle All The
Way, Homeward Bound II, and The
Cherokee Kid.
Tickets for Sinbad range from $20
to $40. Show time each night is 8 p.m.
